I signed up for the dumpling class. It’s the favorite thing I make at home. And please wish your mom a happy 90’th birthday. My mother is 84 and a force of nature.
Hi Ellen! Hooooray! Thanks for signing up and the good wishes for my mom. She greatly appreciates it (she subscribes!). All the best to your mom. That generation inspires us daily.
Thank you, Marion! A multicourse meal is what we have. We had 3 starters, a soup, 2 main dishes, fresh fruit, an asian sweet and western cake. I'll write a little more about it next week.
Oh that sounds wonderful. My birthday is coming up and when asked what I want to do, simple answer is stay home and cook! 😊 I see Vietnamese food in my near future
speaking of a restaurant (last question, I promise), my nephew had pho in a restaurant in Philadelphia (pho 75) and he said they served him a seltzer with a piece of salted preserved lemon (chanh muoi on the menu)). Do you or your Mom make it? I am looking for a good recipe. I saw a chanh thieu muoi lime dipping sauce on your website but that seems different
Buy salted limes in a jar at a Viet or Chinese market, mix with simple syrup, salt and soda water. The limes take forever to make the limes from scratch.

Happy Birthday to your lovely mother. What would be a typical Viet birthday celebration?

It was work to put a meal together for 12 but so much better than going to a restaurant.

The pork steaks look so good -- on my "to-make" list. 😋 Enjoy celebrating your wonderful mom!🎈🎉
I hope you enjoy the recipe. Thanks for asking that great question!
Happy bday to your mama ❤️
Thanks, Sarah!
Thank you Andrea!!! 🙏You always have the best recipes and good-to-know tips!!!
I have prepared this many times. I printed your recipe to prepare this week. I’m certain my results will be much better.
Happy Birthday to your beautiful mother, and hope everyone enjoys the celebration!
