Hello there!
You may not think you need another tote bag, but you may need one that helps you shop for Vietnamese herbs. At Viet and Chinese markets, herbs are not labeled consistently in English. You need the Vietnamese to decipher what’s what.
For instance, last week, at a Southern California 99 Ranch (a standard bearer for Asian markets), the ngo om wasn’t labeled as rice paddy herb. Your Vietnamese language skills may be a bit rusty. You may want a special lifeline when shopping for Viet herbs!
Cue my bilingual herb tote bag that features 11 commonly used herbs in the Viet kitchen. ⚡️ It can be your handy herb guide and hold lots of groceries too! Double happiness with form and function.
I designed the tote as a companion to Ever-Green Vietnamese, but in all honesty — I’ve long wanted to make a tote to showcase Viet cooking.
Before committing to the bag, I road tested it in various situations — Asian markets, farmer’s markets, regular supermarket, and Costco. It performed well for packing up food easily, efficiently, and confidently. I never felt rushed.
The bag’s wide gusset means it will sit flat, much like a paper grocery bag. The difference is the sturdy tote will last lots longer than paper.
The tote material also washed up beautifully with little or no wrinkling. And, it’s handsome, if I do say so myself!
Why you couldn’t buy the bag until now
When Ever-Green Vietnamese launched in late April, I offered the totes only at in-person events, where they promptly sold out. People asked to buy the tote bag online.
Friends -- I just learned from Rex via comments, that there's an ebook flash sale for Ever-Green Vietnamese. I keep ecookbooks for portability and travel. The beautiful tactile print version is my at-home, in-kitchen version. Seems like the $2.99 deal is only at Amazon.
After the second shipment arrived, I had trouble setting up an online shop. In a nutshell, I mistakenly shut down my website and disconnected my email account. For many days, I thought life was gloriously quiet and free of email and other distractions. Then my publisher texted me asking if I was alright and why I hadn’t responded to emails. I was embarrassed but also had a good laugh!
With determination and some pleading, I managed to fix it all.
Now, I’m happy to announce that the bilingual Viet herb tote bags are available for sale! The online shop is officially open.
I have a limited supply. As newsletter subscribers, you get first dibs.
Each tote bag is $26.50 each plus shipping and any applicable tax. Advance apologies to overseas folks because I am only shipping domestically.
Paid subscribers receive a special ‘thank you’ $5 discount off each tote bag. The coupon code is below so keep scrolling.

Folks -- I just added a link to the original post about a digital flash sale on the book. Thanks Rex for sounding the sale alert alarm. The sale seems to be at Amazon only: https://amzn.to/3PY8zKX
FYI Evergreen Vietnamese is on sale on Amazon for $2.99. I like to have both the book and the digital book.
